Big preparations to erase the monuments of Naxalites from the country... 'Operation Demolition' has begun

India has launched 'Operation Demolition' aimed at destroying monuments erected by Naxalites to undermine their ideology and presence.

In India, a new phase has commenced in the ongoing campaign against Naxalism, as security agencies intensify their efforts not only to clamp down on the active networks of Naxalites but also to target symbols of their ideology. This initiative, dubbed 'Operation Demolition', involves the systematic destruction of monuments established by Naxalites across the country in an effort to dismantle their ideological foothold and diminish their influence.

According to official data, a total of 203 Naxalite monuments have been demolished so far in the states of Maharashtra and Chhattisgarh, with the majority of actions taking place in the year 2026. The campaign has gained unprecedented momentum, resulting in a significant increase in the number of monuments being targeted and destroyed. For instance, in Chhattisgarh, no monuments were demolished in 2023, but the numbers escalated drastically in subsequent years, culminating in 130 demolitions in 2026 alone, showcasing the aggressive strategy employed by security forces.

Similarly, in Maharashtra, the number of demolished monuments rose from just one in 2023 to 45 in 2026, indicating a focused and escalating initiative to eradicate the symbolic representations of Naxalite ideology within these states. This aggressive approach outlines the government's strategy not only to combat the armed insurrection but also to erase the legacy of the Naxalite movement by systematically dismantling its physical symbols, potentially influencing the narrative of Naxalism in India.
