Group unveils prayer for 2027 polls
A national prayer campaign for the 2027 general elections was launched by the National Prayer Support Group for Good Governance in Nigeria.
The National Prayer Support Group for Good Governance has launched its inaugural national prayer campaign in anticipation of the 2027 general elections in Nigeria. The event was held at the National Center for Women Development in Abuja and attracted various stakeholders including government officials, political party leaders, and religious figures from both Islamic and Christian traditions. This gathering underscored the importance of a unified approach to governance through faith and community engagement.
During the conference, Alhaji Abdul-Hakeem Atilade, the Director-General of the National Prayer Support Group for Good Governance, highlighted that faith plays a crucial role in fostering peace and stability in Nigeria. He expressed that the prayer initiative aims not only to generate spiritual support for good governance and electoral success, particularly for the All Progressives Congress, but also to be implemented across all 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory. This widespread mobilization reflects an effort to unite diverse communities in prayer and collective action for the upcoming elections.
Moreover, Atilade emphasized that spiritual intercession will be complemented by active civic engagement, including efforts in voter education and mobilization. This holistic approach aims to empower citizens and encourage their participation in the electoral process, addressing both the spiritual and practical aspects of governance in Nigeria. As the country approaches the 2027 elections, the group's dual emphasis on prayer and civic involvement could play a significant role in shaping the political landscape and promoting good governance.
