On Friday night, the Kebbi State Police Command thwarted a midnight assault by suspected Lakurawa bandits targeting security posts along the Maje border road. This audacious attack was carried out around 9:45 PM by armed men who attempted to disguise their approach by herding cattle, aiming to mislead law enforcement. Thanks to the heightened vigilance of the Counter Terrorism Unit, officers swiftly engaged the attackers, resulting in a gun duel that forced the bandits to retreat without causing any fatalities or injuries.

State Commissioner of Police Umar Hadeija commended the professionalism and readiness of the police forces in their response to this threat.
