On the seventh anniversary of the murder of activist and communicator Samir Flores Soberanes, the demand for justice echoed strongly in Amilcingo, Temoac, Morelos. Family members, educators, and fellow activists—opponents of the Huesca thermal power plant construction—expressed their frustrations over what they perceive as systemic impunity and deliberate paralysis in investigations by the Morelos State Attorney General's Office (FGE) and the Federal Attorney General's Office (FGR). Despite the FGR taking over the investigation in August 2023, the victims’ families lament that there have been no significant advances or political will to identify all those responsible for Flores' death.

The commemoration began with a mass at Flores' former residence, followed by a march through significant locations related to his fight, including the community radio station he founded and the spot where he was assassinated on February 20, 2019. His widow, Liliana, emphasized that after more than five years of institutional simulations, the lack of progress in the case reflects a broader issue of neglect for social activists in Mexico. She and other activists continue to demand accountability from high-ranking officials, including Cuauhtémoc Blanco and Hugo Eric Flores, who they believe may hold responsibility for the lack of justice.
