Former official of Cuauhtémoc Blanco murdered: Alfonso Moreno was shot at in Jiutepec, Morelos
Alfonso Moreno, a former officer of the State Commission of Security in Morelos, was shot to death in an attack by armed men near his home in Jiutepec.
Alfonso Moreno Tacuba, formerly the operational coordinator of the State Commission of Security (CES) in Morelos under the government of Cuauhtémoc Blanco, was murdered on the night of February 9. As he was nearing his home in Jiutepec while driving his personal vehicle, he was ambushed by a group of armed assailants. Following the shooting, Moreno's vehicle crashed at the entrance of the Las Fincas housing complex, where emergency teams confirmed that he had succumbed to his injuries and had no vital signs.
Witnesses reported that the attackers fled the scene in a Nissan Tsuru, further underscoring the violent nature of the incident. This assassination adds to the growing concerns over violence targeting former officials and law enforcement personnel within the region, which has faced significant challenges regarding public security and rising crime rates attributed to organized crime groups.
Moreno's profile as a senior police officer is significant, as he held important positions within the CES, which is tasked with public safety and combatting crime in Morelos. His murder not only reflects the escalating violence in the state but also raises questions about the safety of former and current officials who have been part of the law enforcement apparatus in areas plagued by criminal activity.
