Pastor dies crushed by a pole while working on BR-163, in MS

Welliton Juliano da Silva, a 37-year-old pastor, died while performing maintenance work on BR-163 in Brazil when a pole fell on him.

Welliton Juliano da Silva, a 37-year-old pastor from Naviraí, tragically lost his life in a work accident on the BR-163 highway in Itaquiraí, Mato Grosso do Sul. While performing electrical maintenance for the company Motiva Pantanal, he was involved in removing a utility pole that had a surveillance camera attached to it. Reports indicate that during the procedure, he climbed the pole to secure a strap for its removal by a crane when the structure collapsed under his weight, leading to the fatal accident.

Emergency response teams from the utility company were dispatched and managed to transport Welliton to the São Francisco Hospital while he was still alive. Unfortunately, despite receiving medical assistance, he succumbed to his injuries shortly after arrival. The incident has raised concerns about workplace safety, particularly the risks posed by heavy equipment and high structures in maintenance tasks.
