Search efforts are currently ongoing in Velouchi, Greece, for a 74-year-old mountaineer whose whereabouts have been unaccounted for since around 5:30 PM. The elderly climber was part of a group of 17 enthusiasts from the Piraeus Nature Lovers Club, who aimed to summit the 'Psili Koryfi,' which is the peak of the mountain. During the ascent, he communicated to his fellow climbers that he would not continue to the summit and would wait at a designated spot for their return.

Upon the group's return, the climbers were alarmed to find that he was not at the predetermined location. Despite immediate searches conducted in the surrounding area, they were unable to locate him. Their anxiety intensified when they realized that his mobile phone was ringing normally but not answering any calls. This prompted them to alert the authorities, leading to the mobilization of a search and rescue operation.

The operation features a concerted effort by numerous rescue teams, including fire services, as the search intensifies with the aim of finding the missing mountaineer.
