A dog named Jupi is recovering after being struck by vehicles twice within an hour in Picos, Piauí.
A dog named Jupi has survived a harrowing ordeal after being hit by two vehicles in Picos, Piauí. On the morning of Sunday, the 15th, Jupi was initially struck by a car and, despite his injuries, attempted to drag himself toward the middle of the road. Unfortunately, approximately one hour later, he was hit again, this time by an ambulance, while still struggling to stay alive in the cold and pain.
The incident garnered attention when the Associação dos Amigos Protetores dos Animais de Picos (Apapi) released footage of the events. Following the second collision, an ambulance from the Mobile Emergency Care Service (SAMU) returned from an emergency call, noticed Jupi on the side of the road, and promptly took action by placing him on a sheltered spot out of the rain. Hours later, the owner of the property where Jupi was left contacted the animal protection organization for assistance.
Currently, Jupi is under medical care and is expected to recuperate, sparking discussions on animal safety and the responsibilities of drivers in the area. The story underscores the ongoing challenges faced by stray animals and the importance of community support for animal welfare initiatives.
