Obidient movement flags IREV glitch in FCT polls
The Obidient Movement has raised concerns about the malfunction of the election results portal during the Federal Capital Territory elections in Nigeria.
The Obidient Movement, a political group in Nigeria, has expressed serious concerns regarding the malfunctioning of the Independent National Electoral Commission's (INEC) Results Viewing Portal during the crucial Federal Capital Territory (FCT) elections. They claim that while results were uploaded from various polling units, these results are not properly reflecting on the server, leading to fears of discrepancies in the election outcomes. This situation raises alarms about transparency and the integrity of the electoral process in Nigeria's capital.
This issue arises amidst the elections for the chairmen and councillors of the six Area Councils in the FCT: Abuja Municipal, Bwari, Gwagwalada, Kuje, Abaji, and Kwali. These elections are being closely watched as a litmus test of political strength at the grassroots level, especially as the results could have significant implications for future national elections. The Obidient Movement views the current electoral process as pivotal for the representation and participation of citizens in governance.
Dr Yunusa Tanko, the National Coordinator of the Obidient Movement, urged supporters to stay vigilant regarding the collation process following these allegations of a glitch. By calling attention to these issues, the movement seeks to ensure that the electoral process is conducted fairly and transparently, reflecting the will of the people. The developments during the FCT elections could set a precedent for how future elections are managed and perceived in Nigeria, emphasizing the importance of robust electoral systems.
