A tragic accident occurred on Friday afternoon in Major Vieira, Northern Santa Catarina, where a 58-year-old truck driver lost his life when his trailer, filled with potatoes, overturned on SC-477. According to the analysis by the State Highway Patrol (PMRv), the driver was traveling from Papanduva to Major Vieira when he lost control of the vehicle while navigating a sharp curved ramp, causing the trailer to flip and end up facing the wrong way on the highway. The incident took place around 5 PM, leading to the temporary closure of the state highway as rescue operations commenced. Emergency responders found the vehicle in a precarious position, with part of it on the road and the cabin precariously hanging over a slope. The Police Scientific Institute was called in to assist with the body recovery and investigation into the accident's circumstances.
