DHQ rallies West Africa forces on combat strategies against regional threats
The Defence Headquarters of Nigeria has conducted a workshop to enhance military collaboration and readiness among West African nations against emerging security threats.
The Defence Headquarters of Nigeria has recently concluded a four-day Capacity Building and Regional Doctrine Workshop focused on enhancing military cooperation and operational preparedness among the armed forces of West African countries. This initiative involved representatives from Nigeria, Ghana, Gambia, Senegal, and Sierra Leone, as well as ECOWAS officials and international experts from the British Defence Staff in West Africa. The workshop's primary goal was to harmonise military doctrines and methodologies across the region, enabling these nations to respond more effectively to security challenges.
During the workshop, Major General Samaila Uba, Director of Defence Information, highlighted the importance of unifying operational concepts in the face of evolving threats. Chief of Defence Staff General Olufemi Oluyede underscored the necessity of addressing doctrinal disparities among member nations, particularly concerning emerging security issues such as asymmetric warfare and transnational crime. The discussions aimed to fortify joint operational strategies and foster collaborations that would enhance regional stability and security.
As the security landscape in West Africa continues to evolve with varied threats, this initiative represents a significant step towards a coordinated military response. The establishment of frameworks for collaboration among regional forces is vital for tackling the complex security scenarios that these nations face, and the workshop serves as a critical foundation for future joint operations and strategic planning in the region.
