A devastating fire broke out at a care home in Szczawno, Poland, prompting an immediate response from firefighters, police, and medical rescue teams. Prior to the emergency services' arrival, staff at the facility initiated an evacuation of residents, demonstrating preparedness in a crisis situation. Fire authorities confirmed that while the fire on the first floor was extinguished, efforts continued on the upper levels, highlighting the ongoing risks posed by the smoke and flames.

Arkadiusz Kaniak, a spokesperson for the regional fire command, reported to the media that three individuals sustained minor injuries while two others were affected by smoke inhalation. Tragically, there was one fatality among the residents, underscoring the potential dangers posed during such emergencies. Evacuation efforts successfully relocated 96 individuals from the care home, with nine of them requiring medical attention; one person was undergoing resuscitation efforts at the scene.

Fire crews, consisting of 14 units, actively engaged in combatting the blaze, and officials reassured the public that there was no immediate threat to nearby buildings.
