Giant fire in Ząbki. Fire cut off evacuation route
A tragic fire in a residential building in Ząbki, Poland, resulted in injuries and necessitated the evacuation of around 20 people.
On Monday, February 16, a severe fire broke out in a five-story apartment building located on Różana Street in Ząbki, near Warsaw. The firefighters were alerted shortly after 2 PM about a fire on the ground floor. Upon arrival, they discovered that the flames engulfed an entire apartment, with thick smoke making it dangerously difficult for residents on higher floors to escape. The urgent situation prompted the firefighters to evacuate approximately 20 individuals from the upper levels of the building.
Among those affected by the fire were an adult and a child, both of whom required medical attention, with the latter being transported to the hospital along with another adult. The spokesperson for the Mazowiecki Provincial Commander of the State Fire Service, Karolina Jaworska, confirmed these details. By shortly before 5 PM, firefighters managed to control the situation, yet several fire crews remained on site to ensure the fire was completely extinguished.
While the immediate danger appears to have been addressed, the cause of the fire remains unclear, and authorities have commenced an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident. The event highlights the critical role of emergency services in such crises and raises concerns about fire safety regulations in residential buildings, particularly in densely populated areas like Ząbki.
