Kläbo adds 11th Olympic gold to trophy cabinet, Alev and Himma in the top 30
Johannes Hösflot Kläbo won the men's 50 km classic marathon at the Milano Cortina Winter Olympics, marking his 11th Olympic victory, while Alvar Johannes Alev and Martin Himma achieved career-best finishes in the Olympics.
At the Milano Cortina Winter Olympics, Norwegian skier Johannes Hösflot Kläbo secured his 11th career Olympic gold medal by winning the men's 50 km classical style skiing marathon. This victory adds to his remarkable achievements and highlights his dominance in the sport. Kläbo completed the race with a time of two hours, six minutes, and 44.8 seconds, showcasing his incredible skill, particularly during the crucial final kilometers of the race.
During the race, a significant group of 20 skiers formed early on but dwindled to five after ten kilometers. Initially competing well, Kläbo, alongside fellow Norwegians Martin Löwström Nyenget and Emil Iversen, managed to break away from the pack. However, as the race progressed, Iversen fell out of contention, leading to an exciting final showdown between Kläbo and Nyenget. The two Norwegians raced closely together, but Kläbo demonstrated his superior climbing ability, ultimately securing the gold.
In addition to Kläbo's stellar performance, Alev and Himma both had career-best individual performances at the Olympics, finishing in 15th and 29th place, respectively. Their achievements mark significant milestones in their careers, contributing to a strong showing for Estonia in this competitive event. The impressive results not only celebrate Norwegian skiing prowess but also highlight emerging talents from Estonia on the Olympic stage.
