Asha Sharma has been named the Executive Vice President and CEO of Microsoft's Gaming division, succeeding Phil Spencer who has been with the company for nearly four decades. This announcement was made by Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella, who expressed optimism about Sharma's role in the future of gaming and Microsoft's consumer vision. Sharma will report directly to Nadella in her new position.

Sharma brings nearly 15 years of leadership experience in technology, product, and operations to her new role, having started her career at Microsoft in 2011 after graduating from the Carlson School of Management at the University of Minnesota. She initially joined the company’s marketing department. Sharma's appointment marks a significant shift in leadership for Microsoft's gaming sector, indicating the company's commitment to diversifying its management and enhancing its gaming strategy in the increasingly competitive market.
