Two new auxiliary bishops appointed by Pope Leo 14 were installed in a ceremony at the Cathedral of Sé in São Paulo.

Two new auxiliary bishops were officially installed in the Archdiocese of São Paulo during a mass celebrated by Cardinal Odilo Scherer at the Cathedral of Sé. Appointed by Pope Leo 14, Dom Márcio Antonio Vidal de Negreiros will serve in the Santana region of northern São Paulo, while Dom Celso Alexandre will serve in the Ipiranga region of the southern part of the city. The installation of the bishops is seen as a valuable addition to the archdiocese's leadership, fulfilling essential pastoral needs.

During the ceremony, Cardinal Scherer expressed gratitude for the appointment of the new bishops, emphasizing the importance of their roles within the Church's mission in São Paulo. The newly appointed bishops received their provisions as general and episcopal vicar, marking their formal entry into their respective positions. Cardinal Scherer's remarks highlighted the ongoing support from Pope Francis, connecting the local church with the wider global Catholic community.

Dom Márcio, aged 58, hails from Dois Córregos, a city approximately 260 kilometers from São Paulo, and was previously a parish vicar in Bragança Paulista before his bishopric appointment. This event reflects both the growth and the responsiveness of the Archdiocese to its needs, assuring parishioners that their spiritual and administrative demands are being addressed through these new leadership figures.
