Mobile phones found in Pravieniškiai 2nd prison
Two mobile phones were discovered in the Pravieniškiai 2nd prison in Lithuania, along with SIM cards and a charger.
On Friday at around 10:40 AM, a guard at the Pravieniškiai 2nd prison in Lithuania reported that a package containing two mobile phones was found within the security perimeter. This incident raises concerns regarding security and the smuggling of communication devices into correctional facilities.
Later that same day, at approximately 4:00 PM, another package was discovered in the production area of the prison. This package contained two additional mobile phones, five SIM cards, and a charger, further indicating that unauthorized communication methods are being used within the prison. Such discoveries not only challenge the prison's security measures but also highlight the ongoing issues with contraband in correctional institutions across the country.
The presence of mobile phones in prisons can facilitate illegal activities, including coordinating criminal enterprises from within correctional facilities. The Lithuanian Prison Service has to address these incidents urgently to ensure the safety and integrity of the prison system, as well as to maintain public confidence in the correctional process. This situation may necessitate stricter security protocols and monitoring to prevent future occurrences of similar breaches.
