NSSF boosts school sports leadership

The Nigeria School Sport Federation hosted a seminar aimed at enhancing the leadership and management skills of state coordinators involved in school sports across the country.

The Nigeria School Sport Federation (NSSF) held its annual administrative seminar in Lagos, bringing together state coordinators from various regions for a one-day workshop focused on enhancing school sports leadership. This initiative aims to build the capacity of sports handlers and align their practices with global standards. With the theme "Enhancing Capacity for Effective School Sports Leadership," the seminar included interactive sessions featuring lectures and knowledge sharing from experienced resource persons.

One of the notable presentations was delivered by Professor Macpherson Akindele Ogunsemore from the University of Lagos, who emphasized the vital role of coordinators in identifying and nurturing talent at the grassroots level. He highlighted the need for effective organization of sports programs to maximize the potential of young athletes in Nigerian schools. Ogunsemore's insights underlined the importance of collaboration between coordinators, coaches, and physical education teachers to create a supportive environment for student-athletes.

This seminar reflects the NSSF's commitment to enhancing the administration of school sports and ensuring that practices are in line with international best practices. By empowering state coordinators with the necessary management tools and knowledge, the NSSF aims to significantly improve the quality and effectiveness of sports programs in schools, ultimately contributing to the growth and development of sports talent in Nigeria.
