Atlético Madrid sports project, the 'strong bet' that will play in Ecuador's Serie B
Atlético Madrid is expanding its presence in Ecuador with a significant sports and social project that aims to develop professional football opportunities in the country.
Atlético Madrid is making a notable entry into Ecuador with an ambitious sports and social initiative that demonstrates tangible results and aims to enter professional football. The project, which commenced in July 2023, was born from a strategic partnership with the Guayaquil Board of Charity, Ecuador's largest non-profit organization, intended to implement a sporting and educational model across various regions in Ecuador.
Since its launch, the initiative has rapidly developed, establishing academies in cities such as Guayaquil, Cuenca, Manta, Salinas, and Machala. To date, over 14,000 young people have benefited from comprehensive development programs under this initiative, indicating significant engagement and interest in football at the grassroots level. The project's roadmap includes the opening of a new center in Quito and further expansion into additional cities, with a goal of increasing participation to 17,000 participants soon.
The project's scale and impact are exemplified by the inauguration of the Cuenca center, which highlights Atlético Madrid's commitment not only to sports but also to social development in Ecuador. As the program grows, it brings the potential to influence the local football scene significantly and create pathways for talent development in professional leagues like Serie B, enhancing the sporting landscape in the country.
