Driver loses control, truck makes an 'L' and blocks part of the road on the Via Dutra in Piraí
A truck overturned on the Via Dutra in Piraí, partially blocking the road and impacting traffic due to wet conditions after rainfall.
On Thursday afternoon, a truck lost control and overturned on the Via Dutra highway in Piraí, Rio de Janeiro, causing a partial blockage of the roadway. The incident occurred around 5 PM at kilometer 258, in the direction of Rio de Janeiro, specifically at the access point to the municipality of Pinheiral. This obstruction forced traffic to be diverted to the left lane, creating delays for motorists in the area.
The Federal Highway Police (PRF) reported that the truck was positioned between the right lane and the acceleration lane for the access, complicating traffic flow further. Thankfully, the driver of the truck was not injured in the accident. Occurring during a period of rainfall, the wet road conditions are believed to have contributed to the driver’s loss of control, underscoring the risks of driving in adverse weather.
To resolve the situation, a heavy tow truck from the concessionaire was dispatched to remove the overturned vehicle and clear the road completely. Such incidents highlight the importance of road safety and awareness, particularly in challenging weather conditions that can affect vehicle handling and driver reaction times.
