Truck collides with embankment on Via Dutra in Piraí
A truck collided with a support base on the Serra das Araras, causing significant traffic disruption but no reported victims.
On Wednesday morning, a truck crashed into a support base on the Serra das Araras in Piraí, Rio de Janeiro, along the Via Dutra highway. The incident occurred at kilometer 229 in the direction of Rio de Janeiro. Following the initial collision with the embankment, the truck proceeded to hit a concrete barrier, resulting in total blocking of the downhill lane for removal efforts.
The collision led to a traffic jam of approximately 7 kilometers, causing considerable delays for motorists. The highway concessionaire, CCR RioSP, reported that the lanes were completely cleared and normalized around 1:20 PM, indicating that the removal operations were efficient and timely to alleviate the congestion.
Despite the potential for serious consequences in such vehicular accidents, it was fortunate that there were no injuries reported as a result of this incident. Authorities continue to monitor highway conditions to ensure safety and maintain smooth traffic flow in the aftermath of the collision.
