With Float... OPEKEPE Starts the Peak of the Patras Carnival
The Patras Carnival is in full swing, showcasing vibrant parades and festive atmospheres in the city's center.
The Patras Carnival has officially reached its peak, drawing large crowds of locals and visitors alike into the city center to experience its festive ambiance. The event kicked off with stunning visuals that captivated attendees from the start. Streets filled with people eager to partake in the carnival's elaborate festivities showcased the city's rich tradition of celebration.
This year's parade featured beautifully illuminated floats that made their inaugural appearance. They began their journey at the intersection of Gounari and Corinthos streets, continuing along Corinthos towards Georgiou Square. Once there, the floats surrounded the square, allowing both young and old to get up close, marvel at the designs, and snap photos, further enhancing the community's engagement with the event.
Among the thematic floats were various highlights that excited the crowd, including "Patras Carnival Dj" the Herald, "King Carnival" resembling Dionysus, themed floats like "Not a Drop of Water," "Paint the City," "OPEKEPE Be...", along with the University of Patras's "Harlequins" and the "Agricultural Eater". This vibrant display reflects both the creativity and the cultural significance of the carnival for the local community, reinforcing its status as a key event in the region.
