High interest in grants for home wind turbines. Budget depleted
The funding for the program "My Wind Power Plant" in Poland has been fully allocated due to overwhelming interest, leading to the closure of applications ahead of schedule.
As of February 20, 2026, nearly 5,000 applications for over 150 million zΕ have been submitted for grants related to home wind turbines in Poland. The total declared capacity of these micro wind installations reaches nearly 21 MW, implying a cost of approximately 7.1 million zΕ per MW for this initiative. The financing source for this program is the Modernization Fund, which aims to support renewable energy projects within the country.
The rapid depletion of funds was attributed to a significant increase in interest from applicants in recent days, resulting in filling the available budget much sooner than the anticipated deadline of February 28, 2026. As stated by the National Fund for Environmental Protection and Water Management (NFOΕiGW), applications submitted before the closure will continue to be evaluated according to the program's rules. It highlights that the program "My Wind Power Plant" was launched in June 2024, and aimed at encouraging the adoption of renewable energy sources by providing financial support for the purchase and installation of home wind power plants.
The implications of this high demand indicate both a growing recognition of the importance of renewable energy solutions in Poland and a potential challenge in meeting future energy needs without sufficient funding. The closure of the application period early may prompt the government to reconsider future allocations or the design of the program to accommodate the evident interest in micro-generation solutions, as the country seeks to diversify its energy sources and move towards more sustainable practices.
