Simon-Pierre Savard-Tremblay, a member of the Bloc Québécois representing Saint-Hyacinthe—Bagot—Acton, shared on social media that he was the victim of an assault while in Brussels for a NATO parliamentary assembly meeting. During the incident, which took place around 7:30 p.m. on a Tuesday, three assailants attacked him, stealing his watch and using pepper spray. Despite the suddenness of the attack, Savard-Tremblay fought back and attempted to alert passersby. He expressed his gratitude for those who offered him assistance in the aftermath of the incident.

Following the assault, Savard-Tremblay reported the incident to the local police station and informed security personnel at the House of Commons in Canada as well as the Canadian embassy in Brussels. He emphasized that he did not sustain any physical injuries from the attack, but the experience has prompted him to issue a warning to travelers about exercising caution while abroad, particularly in urban environments where such risks may occur.
