'PM will never admit interference in occurrences,' says commander in DF after councilman brings pepper spray to block

The commander of the Military Police of the Federal District defended the police's actions during the carnival, including an incident involving pepper spray used on a local councilman.

Ana Paula Habka, the commander of the Military Police of the Federal District, defended the police's conduct during the carnival in an interview following an incident where a police officer used pepper spray on district councilman Fábio Félix. Habka acknowledged that the incident would be investigated but emphasized that the police would not accept any interference in their operations, stating that the officer's actions were in line with their responsibilities in representing the state and enforcing order.

The incident occurred during the carnival on February 16th at a popular block party in the Commercial Sector of Brasília. The officer's use of pepper spray has sparked discussions about police conduct during public events, particularly regarding the treatment of elected officials. Habka reiterated the importance of respecting police officers while noting that any actions taken would be scrutinized to ensure accountability.

Public safety secretary Sandro Avelar also defended the action of the police officer by clarifying that he did not act aggressively towards Félix. The incident highlights ongoing tensions between law enforcement and political representatives, raising questions about the balance between maintaining order during public festivities and ensuring the rights and safety of politicians and citizens alike.
