On Thursday afternoon, an ambulance registered to the city government of Mata Roma caught fire on a stretch of the BR-222 highway in Vargem Grande, approximately 172 kilometers from São Luís. The incident occurred when the driver noticed smoke coming from the vehicle and pulled over; however, the ambulance was soon engulfed in flames. Fortunately, there were no injuries reported during this alarming incident.

Local residents attempted to assist in extinguishing the flames but were unable to completely control the fire. It was only after the arrival of firefighters from a private company, who used water from a fire truck, that the blaze was finally put out. The vehicle was completely destroyed by the fire, leaving only its charred remains.
