Medellín has been recognized as the second happiest city worldwide for 2025 in a recent ranking published by Time Out, a company known for its expertise in communication and tourism. The ranking stems from a comprehensive consultation involving 18,000 urban planners, ensuring a broad and informed perspective on urban happiness. Abu Dhabi in the United Arab Emirates topped the list, praised for maintaining positive qualities across various categories, contributing to a high level of contentment among its residents.

According to the survey, an overwhelming majority, 99% of respondents in Abu Dhabi expressed happiness with their city, highlighting a community that promotes positivity and joy. Furthermore, 96% of those surveyed felt that the people in Abu Dhabi are optimistic, and 93% stated they feel happier living in their city compared to any other. In striking contrast, Medellín also demonstrated impressive results, with 97% of participants from the Colombian city indicating they find joy in their daily experiences, indicating strong local pride and community spirit.

The highlighted attributes of Medellín include an active urban lifestyle, vibrant cultural offerings, and a community-oriented environment that fosters fulfillment among its residents.
