LAWMA arrests two for indiscriminate refuse disposal
The Lagos Waste Management Authority has arrested two individuals for improper waste disposal at Ikosi–Ketu, Lagos.
Operatives from the Lagos Waste Management Authority (LAWMA) arrested two individuals for environmental violations related to indiscriminate refuse disposal at Ikosi–Ketu, Lagos. The arrests were made by the Waste Surveillance, Investigation and Enforcement team at the Ikosi Y-Junction median, which is situated near the LAMATA BRT Bus Yard. The agency highlighted this incident on its X (formerly Twitter) page, emphasizing its commitment to maintaining environmental standards in the area.
The individuals apprehended were identified as James Aderele, a 25-year-old from Osun State, and Ajoke Ayinde, a 37-year-old from Oyo State. Following their arrests, both suspects were promptly taken to the Special Environmental Offences Mobile Court located in Oshodi for prosecution, reflecting the enforcement of existing environmental laws in Lagos State. This action is part of a broader initiative by LAWMA to curb waste disposal offenses and promote responsible waste management practices among residents.
