Owner of a construction materials warehouse dies crushed by forklift in Pirapora
A construction materials warehouse owner died in Pirapora after being crushed by a forklift he was operating.
In Pirapora, a tragic incident occurred involving Elton Tameirão de Almeida, a 40-year-old owner of a construction materials warehouse, who died after being crushed by a forklift. The accident happened while he was operating the forklift to unload a truck parked in front of his establishment. After stepping down to assist with the truck's cargo, the forklift unexpectedly descended, causing one of its forks to puncture the structure and press Almeida against the truck's bed.
Reports from employees to the police indicated that the forklift had brake issues and that standard safety procedures were not followed during the accident. Specifically, when parking the forklift, the proper safety measure of lowering the forks completely to the ground was neglected. This oversight appears to have contributed to the unfortunate circumstances of the event, raising concerns over workplace safety regulations and enforcement.
The victim was immediately aided by emergency services but succumbed to his injuries shortly after arriving at the hospital. This incident highlights the risks associated with material handling equipment in construction environments and the essential need for rigorous safety protocols to prevent such tragedies in the future.
