A 13-year-old girl in Pune, India, was raped in a car by a 29-year-old acquaintance who lured her under the guise of taking her to school.

In a shocking incident from Pune, Maharashtra, a 13-year-old girl was raped in a car by a 29-year-old man, identified as Gyaneshwar Suresh Raikar, who was known to her. The crime occurred on February 18 when the accused approached the girl while she was waiting to go to school, offering her a ride. Instead of taking her to school, he drove to a secluded area on DP Road near Dudhane Lawns, where he forced himself on her in the vehicle. After the assault, the accused threatened the young victim not to disclose the incident to anyone. Initially terrified, the girl did not report the crime right away; however, she confided in her mother later that night. This prompted her family to file a formal complaint at the Warje Malwadi police station, leading to the arrest of the perpetrator shortly thereafter. The local court has remanded Raikar into police custody for two days as investigations continue. The case has raised serious concerns about the safety of children and the rising incidents of sexual violence against minors in India, highlighting the need for stricter measures to protect young individuals from such heinous crimes.
