Auditor investigated for alleged data leak from the Supreme Court is dismissed from trust position in Presidente Prudente
Federal auditor Ricardo Mansano de Moraes was dismissed from his position amid an investigation into a suspected data leak involving Supreme Court ministers.
Ricardo Mansano de Moraes, a federal auditor in Presidente Prudente, São Paulo, has been dismissed from his trust position at the Federal Revenue Service, as reported in the Official Gazette. The announcement, dated Thursday, does not specify the reasons behind his dismissal, which comes in light of an ongoing investigation into alleged data leaks concerning ministers of Brazil’s Supreme Court (STF).
The auditor is currently under scrutiny as part of a federal operation that has seen law enforcement executing search and seizure warrants, including at his home in São José do Rio Preto, São Paulo. This operation has extended to various locations, including the cities of Rio de Janeiro, Salvador, and Guarujá, where searches were carried out. The Federal Police have seized mobile phones belonging to some federal servers as part of the investigation, and these individuals have already provided testimony.
The defense of Moraes has stated that the facts surrounding the allegations will be clarified, emphasizing the auditor's integrity. Despite the investigation and the dismissal, there is no indication that Federal Revenue buildings were affected during the police's actions, suggesting that the inquiry is focused more directly on the individuals involved than the institutions.
