WOMEN ~ HEROINES - discussion - March 7, 2026 in Bratislava
The Hrdinky project by Denník N highlights inspiring women who are effecting positive change in their communities, coinciding with a performance addressing women's roles in history and contemporary society.
The Hrdinky project by Denník N is dedicated to showcasing inspiring women and girls who are making a positive impact in the world by advocating for systemic changes and improving life in smaller communities. The project draws inspiration from the successful Czech award 'Moje Heroine,' aimed at highlighting female role models. In conjunction with International Women's Day (MDŽ), the project is organizing a performance and discussion titled 'ONY - strong stories of many, many stories of the strong' that reflects on the historical and contemporary roles of women.
The event will feature a reprise of the performance by the folkloric group Kumšt, which serves as a backdrop for the discussion focusing on women's status in society throughout history and its relevance today. The panel for the discussion will include notable figures such as Anna Polcková, an evangelical pastor, writer Tamara Šimončíková Heribanová, and Lucia Nogová, the head of Kumšt's theater company and director of the program 'ONY.' The discussion will be moderated by journalist Nina Jane from Denník N.
The Hrdinky project, along with the performance and discussion, aims to promote awareness and inspire action regarding women's issues, celebrating the contributions of women in society. This initiative not only adds depth to the understanding of women's historical roles but also encourages ongoing dialogue about gender equality and empowerment in contemporary Slovakia.
