Collision between two trucks completely blocks the express lane of the Marginal do Tietê, towards Ayrton Senna
A collision between two trucks on the express lane of the Marginal do Tietê in São Paulo has completely blocked traffic in that area, causing significant delays.
A serious traffic incident occurred early Friday morning, when two trucks collided on the express lane of the Marginal do Tietê near the Ponte Comunidade Húngara, heading towards the Ayrton Senna corridor. The accident took place around 5:20 AM and resulted in the complete blockage of the express lane, affecting commuters traveling from the Rodovia dos Bandeirantes towards downtown São Paulo.
The situation was exacerbated by one truck's position, which was left in an 'L' shape directly under the bridge, obstructing all traffic. As a result, a massive queue formed, stretching over 4 kilometers by 6:30 AM, impacting those exiting both the Bandeirantes and Castello Branco highways. The São Paulo Traffic Engineering Company (CET) was able to clear the lane by approximately 6:25 AM but the impact on traffic was immediate and significant.
The congestion faced by motorists during the rush hour highlights not only the challenges of road safety in Brazil but also the ripple effect such incidents can have on urban mobility in one of the country's busiest cities. Authorities continue to assess the situation to prevent future occurrences and improve traffic conditions in this critical area of São Paulo.
