Constantinos Yazitzoglou, President of the SME: The Mining Sector as a Pillar of Greece's Geopolitical Strengthening
Constantinos Yazitzoglou emphasizes the growing recognition of the mining sector's importance for Greece's geopolitical strength and economic development.
In a statement, Constantinos Yazitzoglou, President of the Association of Mining Enterprises, highlighted that the mining sector is evolving into a pillar for the geopolitical strengthening of Greece. He noted that both political leaders and society are gradually becoming aware of the sector's significance not only for economic development but also, crucially, for geopolitical balance.
Yazitzoglou pointed out recent milestones, stating that in the last few months, two esteemed organizations have engaged with mining for the first time in their histories. In Brussels, the European Court of Auditors released a report on the quality and effectiveness of the regulation concerning Critical Raw Materials. Similarly, a study titled 'The Emerging Dependence of the EU on Critical Raw Materials' was presented in Greece at ELIAMEP, signaling a shift in focus towards these crucial resources.
The mining sector, according to Yazitzoglou, is expected to play a pivotal role moving forward, especially as discussions about critical mineral resources intensify within both national and European frameworks. There is a strong anticipation in the sector regarding upcoming meetings that could define future policies and initiatives aimed at elevating Greece's position in the geopolitical landscape.
