The Croatian Parliament Votes on the Confidence of Alen Ružić

The Croatian Parliament is set to vote on confidence in the new Minister of Labor, Alen Ružić, today.

Today, the Croatian Parliament will vote on the confidence of Alen Ružić, who is poised to take over as the Minister of Labor, Pension System, Family, and Social Policy from outgoing minister Marin Piletić. Ružić has already cleared a significant hurdle by receiving support from three parliamentary committees, namely those for labor, health and social policy, and family, youth, and sports during a prior hearing on Monday.

Prime Minister Andrej Plenković expressed confidence in Ružić's ability to fulfill this role, highlighting his extensive professional background as a doctor and his experience in leadership roles, specifically as a professor at the University of Rijeka and the current director of the Clinical Hospital Center Rijeka. To be formally appointed, Ružić needs the backing of at least 76 members of parliament, and Plenković assured that achieving this support was not in question, indicating a strong coalition backing.

If confirmed, Ružić is expected to integrate quickly into the workings of the government and tackle the outlined challenges of the ministry. His appointment comes at a crucial time when labor and social issues are high on the national agenda, potentially impacting the lives of many citizens as Croatia continues to navigate its post-pandemic recovery and economic pressures.
