Swede charged with abuse of 27 girls – also against Danish girl
A 32-year-old man from Gävle, Sweden, has been charged with sexual offenses against 27 girls, including one from Denmark, involving over 50 incidents of child rape committed online from 2020 to 2025.
The Swedish prosecution has charged a 32-year-old man from Gävle in a wide-ranging case involving sexual offenses against 27 girls aged 9 to 14, with various acts reportedly taking place online between 2020 and 2025. The majority of the victims are from Sweden, but there are also girls from Denmark, Norway, and Ireland included among the victims, highlighting the cross-border nature of these alleged crimes. Prosecutor Mattias Vilhelmsson elaborated on the situation, indicating that the case is extensive and covers numerous serious violations.
The charges against the man are extensive, encompassing more than 50 instances of child rape. The man was employed at a school in Gävle up until his initial arrest in September 2024. Prosecutor Vilhelmsson clarified that there is no suspicion that he had abused any students at the school, which may provide some reassurance to the local community regarding the safety of students while simultaneously raising concerns about his actions outside the school environment.
This case underscores serious issues regarding child safety and online abuse, raising questions about how such offenses can occur undetected over a prolonged period, as well as the potential need for more robust online safeguarding measures to protect vulnerable children from predators. The involvement of victims from multiple countries points to broader implications for international cooperation in combatting online child exploitation and the need for consistent legal frameworks across borders.
