Celebrating Carnival in Athens

The Cultural Foundation of the Piraeus Group welcomes Carnival with a festive program in Athens showcasing the richness of Greek carnival traditions.

The Cultural Foundation of the Piraeus Group is set to embrace Carnival, the brightest and most colorful time of the year, through a festive program in Athens that highlights the wealth of Greek carnival customs. Among the planned activities is a creative workshop titled "Carnival Masks Inspired by the Costumes of Chios," which will take place on February 20, 2026, at 10:30 AM, at the Foundation's building in Tavros.

This workshop invites adults to participate in crafting masks made from recyclable materials, guided by artist Despina Andreou. Participants will draw inspiration from the colors, patterns, and aesthetics of traditional Chian costumes, allowing for a creative merging of sustainability and cultural heritage. They will work with luxurious fabrics and vibrant details to create unique masks, preparing them for festive celebrations.

The event not only offers a chance for creative expression but also serves as a cultural gathering that reinforces the importance of local traditions during the Carnival season. Those interested in attending can reserve a spot by emailing the Foundation with their names, fostering community involvement and appreciation for Greek carnival customs.
