Weather: A cold front brings storms, winds, and hail – When it will rain in Attica
A cold front is set to bring severe storms, heavy rainfall, and hail to Greece from Friday to Saturday, starting from the Ionian Sea and moving across the country.
A new wave of severe weather is expected to impact Greece as a cold front moves across the country, prompting the National Meteorological Service to issue an Emergency Weather Deterioration Bulletin. Meteorologist Theodoros Kolydas reported that the active cold front will move from west to east, resulting in heavy rainfall, thunderstorms, and localized hailstorms between Friday and Saturday.
The weather phenomena are forecasted to commence from the Ionian Sea and western Greece, gradually extending to eastern mainland and the Aegean. Additionally, strong southwesterly winds reaching 7-8 Beaufort are expected to temporarily intensify. The soil saturation levels have raised concerns about localized flooding, highlighting the risks associated with this severe weather event.
As the cold front affects various regions, residents are encouraged to stay informed about weather updates and take precautions against potential flooding and severe storms. This situation underscores the increasing impact of adverse weather conditions in Greece, necessitating preparedness from both authorities and citizens to mitigate any risks posed by nature's unpredictability.
