Weather: Attention in Attica, a new bad weather system comes with storms and hail

A severe weather warning has been issued for the Attica region, predicting heavy rainfall, thunderstorms, and possible hailstorms from Friday morning to Saturday afternoon.

The Greek meteorological service has issued an urgent warning indicating that the weather will deteriorate significantly starting Friday morning, February 20, 2026, extending through Saturday afternoon. The initial impact is expected to occur in the northwestern regions, gradually affecting the western parts of Greece, the northeastern mainland, and the eastern Aegean. Strong southern winds are forecasted, reaching up to 8 on the Beaufort scale in the Ionian Sea and gradually in the central and northern Aegean Sea.

Heavy rains and thunderstorms are anticipated, particularly affecting various areas such as the northern Ionian Sea, including Corfu and Paxos, as well as parts of Epirus this Friday morning until noon. In the Ionian and western Sterea regions, significant rainfall is expected from the morning hours into the afternoon, while western and southern Peloponnese is set to experience adverse weather from midday until late afternoon. Furthermore, eastern Macedonia and other locales will similarly be affected by these tempestuous conditions.
