A house collapsed in southern Guayaquil due to heavy rain, prompting a rescue alert, but no injuries have been reported yet.
On the night of Thursday, February 19, a structural collapse was reported on the streets of Esmeraldas and Domingo Savio in southern Guayaquil as a result of heavy rainfall. The municipal company, Segura EP, issued an alert regarding the situation at 21:57. Images circulating on social media showed a house whose upper roof reportedly collapsed under the weight of water and the effects of the storm.
The Guayaquil Fire Department received the collapse alert around 21:30 and dispatched a unit to the site for verification. There has not yet been any information regarding injuries or casualties from the incident. The intense rainfall on that Thursday affected various districts across the northern, central, and southern parts of the city, leading to significant water accumulation in different areas.
As of 21:50, Segura EP reported accumulated water in sectors such as Avenida 25 de Julio and Antonio Ante, Sauces 6 on Gabriel RoldΓ³s GarcΓ©s Street, Samanes 2 at the intersection of Francisco Rizzo and Elina Manzano, and along Avenida Leonidas Ortega. The ongoing weather conditions are raising concerns about further potential incidents in the city due to the severe weather.
