Jeong Seong-jin, Head of Brand Strategy at Sahmyook University, has donated 12 million won to celebrate the university's 120th anniversary in the names of his late parents.
Jeong Seong-jin, the Head of Brand Strategy at Sahmyook University, has made a significant donation of 12 million won in honor of his late parents, Reverend Jeong Yong-geun and Mrs. Jeong, as part of the university's 120th anniversary celebration. Jeong expressed that he had long wanted to make a meaningful donation in their names and, after discussing it with his siblings, they collectively decided to commemorate the milestone with this generous act. Reverend Jeong was an alumnus of the university's predecessor and played a vital role in the church's development in South Korea, notably contributing to the growth of Sahmyook Food's soymilk business in the 1980s.
Reflecting on his father's legacy, Jeong recalled vivid memories of the innovative soymilk product brought home during its early development, which marked a turning point for the Sahmyook brand. Jeong's father was a financial leader within the church and was instrumental in the growth of Sahmyook University's food company during his tenure as its general secretary from 1988 to 1993. Under his leadership, the company saw significant success, becoming a crucial revenue-generating entity that supported the university's transition to a comprehensive institution, marking a financial turning point reflected in the university's broader development history.
In his current role, Jeong has taken on additional responsibilities within the university's external cooperation team. He emphasized the importance of leading by example in inspiring faculty, staff, and students, as he prepares them for the next century of the university's development. President Je Jae-jong praised Jeong's act as a meaningful example of how previous generationsβ commitments to education and community can be passed down, aligning with the spirit of generosity fostered during the 120th anniversary celebrations.
