Young man arrested on suspicion of drug trafficking in Angra dos Reis

A 20-year-old man was arrested in Angra dos Reis, Brazil, on suspicion of drug trafficking after attempting to flee from the police and being found in possession of large quantities of cocaine and drug paraphernalia.

A 20-year-old man was arrested on Thursday, September 19, in Angra dos Reis, Rio de Janeiro, under suspicion of participating in a drug trafficking network. The arrest occurred in the Santa Rita do Bracuhy neighborhood after police observed him entering an abandoned house. When the police approached, he attempted to escape but was apprehended shortly after.

During a search of the abandoned property, law enforcement officers discovered 1,936 small packets and two bags containing a total of 2 kg of cocaine, as well as a bag of base paste, empty packets, scissors, labels, and other tools commonly used in the distribution and sale of illegal drugs. Additionally, a pellet gun and a mobile phone were found on-site. The police stated that the suspect admitted to being involved in local drug trafficking and was preparing the drugs for sale in the neighborhood.

Following his arrest, the young man was taken to the Angra dos Reis police station along with the seized items, where the case will be further investigated. This incident highlights ongoing issues related to drug trafficking in the region, underlining the efforts of law enforcement to combat this pervasive problem in urban areas of Brazil.
