K. Budrys: We should specifically agree with Taiwan on our action plan
K. Budrys emphasizes the need for Lithuania and Taiwan to finalize a concrete action plan regarding their diplomatic intentions, highlighting current efforts to improve relations with China.
K. Budrys, a Lithuanian official, expressed the necessity for a detailed agreement between Lithuania and Taiwan about their upcoming action plan, which includes intentions and expectations regarding their diplomatic collaboration. He underscored the importance of formalizing their cooperation in a structured way, indicating that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs will take responsibility for centering this issue. Budrys conveyed optimism about the working relationship between the two nations, suggesting a strategic approach toward achieving their goals.
Additionally, Budrys mentioned that the Lithuanian government’s program clearly defines the objective to elevate diplomatic relations with China beyond their current status. By enhancing consular services, Budrys believes Lithuanian citizens would benefit from improved access to consular support and better exchanges regarding situational evaluations. He indicated that there is already active work underway in this regard, demonstrating a proactive stance in building and managing international relationships.
The statement was made following a foreign policy meeting at the Presidential Office, where President Gitanas Nausėda highlighted the potential for Lithuania to restore diplomatic ties with China, suggesting this could occur at the level of temporary representatives if desired by Beijing. This reflects a balancing act between solidifying Lithuania's position with Taiwan while navigating the complex diplomatic landscape with China.
