In a shocking incident in the Grajaú neighborhood of São Paulo, a man was caught on security camera trying to set fire to a homeless woman. The attack took place in the early hours of Thursday, around 5:34 AM, next to a pet supply store. The footage shows the unidentified man approaching bags on the sidewalk and igniting them with what appeared to be a lighter, suggesting a calculated attempt to harm the woman, who was situated behind the bags.
Fortunately, the woman managed to extinguish the flames using a bucket of water she filled from a nearby tap after the man lit the fire. Local residents, including an employee from the pet store, provided additional information, stating that the victim is approximately 40 years old and has been living in the area for about a year. Thankfully, there were no immediate reports of injuries resulting from this dangerous encounter.
Authorities, including the Public Security Secretariat, had not commented on the incident at the time of the last update. This alarming event raises serious concerns about the safety and treatment of homeless individuals in urban environments, as well as the need for increased protection and support for vulnerable populations.
