Major Action by ACB in Hyderabad, Two Officials Arrested for Accepting Bribe of 70,000
The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) in Hyderabad has arrested two state government officials for accepting a bribe of 70,000 rupees from a complainant.
In a significant crackdown against corruption, the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) in Hyderabad has apprehended two officials from the state government for soliciting a bribe of 70,000 rupees. According to an official statement from the ACB, one of the arrested individuals is a superintendent stationed at the Office of the Commissioner and Director of School Education, who had demanded the bribe as part of processing the application for a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from CBSE for the complainant's school for the academic year 2026-27.
The ACB reported that the superintendent did not accept the bribe directly but rather through a senior assistant working at the District Education Officer (DEO) office in Ranga Reddy district. Following a complaint, the ACB set a trap and caught both officials red-handed while accepting the bribe. Additionally, the full amount of 70,000 rupees was recovered from the accused during the operation.
The ACB has registered a case against the arrested officials and is currently continuing its investigation. The bureau is conducting inquiries with the officials to uncover any further wrongdoing or potential connections to larger corruption practices, as this case highlights serious issues of graft within the state government departments involved in educational administration.
