Milder Air on the Way β Risk of Slippery Conditions
Milder weather is expected in southern Sweden over the weekend, but there will be risks of slippery road conditions due to recent cold weather.
After nearly two months of biting cold, milder weather is anticipated in southern Sweden this weekend, although temperatures will still remain modest. Caroline Vahlberg, a meteorologist from SMHI, notes that Sweden has experienced a persistent weather pattern, but now warmer air is approaching, despite some uncertainties in the forecast.
Starting Friday evening, snow will move into the west coast and western Svealand, continuing through Saturday and affecting the southern regions of the country. During this time, temperatures in GΓΆtaland and southern Svealand are likely to hover around zero or slightly above, signaling a shift toward warmer weather after weeks of deep frost.
The prolonged cold winter has caused the frost to penetrate deeply into the ground, creating a lag in the ground temperatures as roads remain cold. Vahlberg warns that if rain falls on these cold surfaces, there is a definite risk of slippery road conditions, adding a layer of caution for drivers during the transition to milder weather.
