Military Police Drone Captures Drug Trafficker in Belford Roxo Dancing on a Boat Just Before Being Arrested in Cabo Frio

A police drone captured footage of a suspected drug trafficker in Belford Roxo dancing on a boat moments before his arrest in Cabo Frio, Brazil.

A drone operated by the Military Police of Rio de Janeiro captured footage of a man believed to be the chief of drug trafficking in Belford Roxo enjoying himself on a boat just before his arrest on Wednesday afternoon. The incident occurred in the water around Ilha do Japonês in Cabo Frio, part of the tourist region known as the Lakes District. The drone footage shows the suspect dancing carefree, oblivious to the fact that he was being watched by police intelligence teams.

Shortly after the drone footage was recorded, police boats approached and initiated a waterborne cluster around the suspect's vessel, successfully catching him while he was still on the boat. This operation was supported by the Environmental Police Command, which provided the boats used during the approach. The arrest was the culmination of a coordinated intelligence operation that tracked the fugitive during his recreational outing.

The Military Police stated that the arrested individual had an outstanding arrest warrant for robbery, along with a lengthy criminal record that includes charges for robbery and homicide. This incident highlights ongoing efforts by Brazilian law enforcement to tackle organized crime and make the Bathed Fluminense region safer, with the integration of technology such as drone surveillance for strategic operations against drug trafficking.
