Young woman sold nonexistent event tickets online โ€“ ten months conditional sentence for nearly 60 frauds

A young woman in Finland was sentenced to ten months in conditional imprisonment for defrauding victims out of thousands of euros by selling fake event tickets online.

In Kanta-Hรคme District Court, a young woman born in 2001 was convicted of 58 counts of fraud, one attempt at fraud, and three incidents of shoplifting, resulting in a ten-month conditional prison sentence. The woman lured people through social media and other online platforms into purchasing tickets for various events and transport services, with no real intention of delivering the tickets to the buyers.

Victims lost amounts ranging from 20 to 260 euros, summing up to approximately 5,300 euros in total. This case is notable not only for the financial damages caused to numerous individuals but also for the fact that the woman had been previously convicted of similar offenses in 2025, which were committed between 2023 and 2024. Some of the fraudulent activities that led to her current conviction occurred after her earlier sentencing, leading the court to impose a stricter punishment this time around.

In addition to the conditional sentence, which is a common measure to allow offenders to reintegrate into society, the court has also mandated a supervision period of one year and three months. The intention behind this supervision is to monitor the woman's behavior and prevent her from committing further offenses, reflecting the court's emphasis on protecting potential future victims from similar fraud schemes.
