Newborn abandoned in the woods needs to be breastfed by a police officer to survive
A newborn baby was found abandoned in the forest in Ibirité, Brazil, and required emergency breastfeeding from a lactating police officer due to dehydration.
In a disturbing incident in Ibirité, Brazil, a newborn baby was discovered abandoned in a wooded area and was in critical need of care. The police reported that the infant was severely dehydrated and malnourished, prompting a lactating police officer to breastfeed the baby to provide immediate nourishment. Medical staff at the subsequent health facility also noted the infant's low health condition, which included signs of a urinary tract infection and genital injuries. Emergency breastfeeding, a practice known as 'cross-nursing', is generally not endorsed by health authorities such as the WHO due to potential disease transmission risks. However, due to the lack of formula or feeding bottles at the health unit, the procedure was deemed necessary by medical professionals.
