Police in Elbląg are reopening the investigation into the 2001 death of a newborn girl found abandoned in a ditch, seeking new leads through DNA evidence.

On January 21, 2001, a report was made to the Elbląg Municipal Police about the discovery of a newborn girl's body in a roadside ditch. The baby was wrapped in a distinctive blanket, and alongside her was a small pillow. Police and forensic technicians quickly arrived at the scene to gather evidence, and a tracking dog was deployed to follow a scent leading towards Adamowo, but it ultimately ended at a building without further leads. An autopsy indicated that the girl had been born alive and lived for a period ranging from 20 minutes to a maximum of 6 hours before succumbing to hypothermia and lack of assistance.
